This exhibit is definitely worth hopping on a plane to see, especially for those who’ve never been to the Selby. Thé gossamer portraits of Patti in the entrance hall of the Selby’s Paine House are phenomenal. I’ve spent the winter painting arrangements of flowers prepared by the Selby staff, emulating Mapplethorpe’s photos in the gallery of the Paine House. Sorry I have to leave before Patti revisits!

I love especially the one of the flowers and the carp. So clear and still, capturing a mood of silence and beauty.

This is a wonderful presentation to walk through (and amongst.) Loved your performance there the other night. One of my first “post” covid public events, it was exactly what this woman needed to move forward!

Thank you, Patti. Beguiling is the perfect word for the exhibit, it seems full of wonder and magic. Robert was so gifted. And I see that mischievous grin you have spoken about that he has, it's captured on his face while he's looking at you on the fire escape. I'm amazed how your friendship with him continues to span time and realize how magical that is. My friend Maryann will be in Sarasota next week and I told her she has to go and see this exhibit. I said I was a part of your Substack community, she said she didn't realize you were an author too. At first I thought, doesn't everybody know Patti Smith's books! And then I thought ok, Maryann's a reader too, she'll love Patti's work too. I know I do. I'm looking forward to your new poem and the audio of the latest The Melting. Safe travels home Patti!

Thanks Patti. What a beautiful tribute to Robert. I especially love the 1971 photo of you both on the balcony. Hugs x
