Amazing amazing amazing Le Pont Mirabeau, ça and I appreciate so much the original Vienne la nuit sonne l’heure because of the way it clangs and rings into being. Good good poem recommendation now to look for more Apollinaire.

The pandemic cancelled a trip to Paris. Don't know when I'll get to go. Hopefully someday.

Someone commented earlier that they had lost their way...it hit.me like a forceful wind thst I, too, have lost my way in this pandemic. But I do know that the way out of the labyrinth is to read and hear poets. I'm a visual artist, but the liminal words of the poets is like my secret religion. What a powerful translation you read to us, like you were laying out the findings of an ancient way. And I had never heard Appollinaire---- thank you. Please overlook my long comment but I was enthralled!

Dear Patti, thanks for reaching out to us from Paris.

Your absence was noted but with joy to think you were traveling again.

Just days before you sent this offering I had gone back to reread Le Pont Mirabeau. I never dreamed I would hear the poet read his work. What a gift!

We are blessed with your generous posts.

Amuse-toi bien!

I, too, never expect apologies from one who gives so much to us, to the world. Enjoy your travels...I listened to the poems in French and was transported by the language. Then I listened to you recite in English, and was taken higher still. Thank you.

I fell in love with Apollinaire when I was 17. A most wonderful poet.

The Clash did a decent job with Sous le Pont Mirabeau as well.

And lucky you to have made it to Europe!

Thank you for introducing us (me, at least) to this poem, Le Pont Mirabeau. I looked it up and the French version is so beautiful. Now the tears. It's my birthday today. 61 years. Comme la vie est lente...Les jours s'en vont je demeure...
