In the corner of my room is a small suitcase, packed over a year ago, ready to tour the world. That was to be my traveling work, which never came to pass. I am still here...
I was in some other category, but I couldn’t find my way back. Not sure if you remember a small club in a small town in Connecticut….. The Shaboo Inn, Mansfield Center, CT. My best friend and I were Freshman in High School and we went to see you on the second date and my parents grounded me. My best friend’s parents were also upset, but he threatened his mother with a steak knife telling her he was not going to miss the Dead Boys, a couple days later. Stiv loved the story…I guess someone had told him and he invited Jeff (my friend) back stage. I was probably home dropping acid and listening to Television. FYI - you were amazing the night we saw you….the music through those years are some of my favorite!
I used to see you around Pratt when you and Robert Maplethorp hung out aroujd Ed and Connie Hansen, but we never actually spoke.
Your comment about Ms March writing her weekly Gothic Tales resonated. I think of the Societies of Correspondence of the English woking classes. probably my ancestors were among them. They published a weekly paid newsletter, not in the newspaper, just a letter that was revolutionary.
A few years ago, one of my amazing daughters asked for M Train as a birthday gift. She and her sister reconnected me with your voice so on Christmas 2019 I gave them tickets to see you. You arrived in Seattle and, well, the reality of the pandemic took over and the show was cancelled. The shutdown was many things, but it did give some possibilities to read, reread, listen, relisten and connect to the things that keep me grounded. I'm so happy to see your words here! And please, if there is a possibility, return to a stage in Seattle so those two young women can finally see you!
Dearest Patti, Congratulations on your one month anniversary of 'The Melting' I feel incredibly fortunate to not only bear witness to your literary magic, but also partake in the arboreal community that flourishes with each page. You are truly an inspiration spreading seeds for a garden of love. 🌳
Thank you so much, Patti! This is really inspiring.
It's been tough to stand as one of the few humans still trying to isolate from harm around my neighborhood (in Rio, Brazil). It's been that way for over one year by now, with my companion and our dear and beloved dog, so it's really great to be able to read your words, emotions and thoughts.
Please, keep sharing! Lots of love from us to you!!! Thanks again.
Falling asleep during the film - reminds me of living in NYC in the early 80's. Didn't have much money, nor heat in my apartment on 6th and Ave A. I'd find an art house double feature (eg. Fellini, Bergman, Pasolini) and camp out all day and evening, sleeping, waking, knowing the films so well, managing to always wake at the same moments in the films, like the horse rolling and rising.
Just finished M Train. I've been thinking about you for a couple of days now and I'm happy to be a part of this - I'm willing to be your notebook! Peace, love, empathy. Selin (from Istanbul).

Hello, Ms Smith

It is awful to fade away. Thank you.
