I love that he says at some point he has to stop taking pictures there because he has been taking pictures there all his life. I say the same thing about the moon.
Hola comrades. Beautiful eve. expansive view of the Square...thanks for sharing. So inspirational. "Because the night belongs to lovers. Because the night belongs to us."
Jackson - you shot a beautiful moving story in the frame. I was 19 ... a young vagabond traveler ... Kelty backpack on my back best friend at my side... we had just gotten off the bus in Brussels following a long ride from Calais to "anywhere North" ... like all other travelers in 1973 we decided to hitch-hike our way into the City Center in search of a hostel. Turning a corner we literally fell into this Grand-Place, Grote Markt, piazza lined on four sides with the most beautiful facades we had ever seen. Lumbering to the center of this incredible "new universe" we stopped, dropped our 50lb "ball & chains" and went full on 360 taking in every turret, steeple, arched window, gilded statues atop tall spires of its Gothic meets Baroque style. This auspicious meeting was the beginning of our road adventure. Thank you, Jackson, for sharing this little video whirly gig of a memory of a time and place in a land so beautiful.
One of the truly great songs of all time sung by one of the best bands from Down Under. It's message so relevant for the times we now live in. I look forward to Patti singing her version of a truly revolutionary song.
Beautiful. I'd landed in Brussels on December 1, 2006 to live there for what ended up being two years. My husband and I had been trying to have a child and had given up on fertility treatments just two months earlier when he got the job offer in Brussels. We went to the square that first night, and it was wet as it is here, but with spinning holiday lights projected on the buildings. I had such a feeling of peace and joy that night, knowing everything was going to be alright. Eight months later, at the age of 43, without fertility treatments, I became pregnant with my beautiful son. I think I had to move to Europe to finally get pregnant. He's 15 now, and a gifted guitar player. I love this picture of you and your son in this place. My heart feels the same magic as that night.
I was all alone at the last concert. One song brought me to tears. Someone comforted me. I don’t know who it was, but he put his arms around me, gave me a warm hug for half a minute, and disappeared. I will never forget this.
Thank you for taking us with you around the world!

As if in a coma I listened,
To clairvoyant conversations between the clay of Earth
And gentle waters undulating."

The time has come
To say fair's fair
To pay the rent now
To pay our share
The time has come
A fact's a fact
It belongs to them
We're going to give it back
How do we sleep
While our beds are burning?
Midnight Oil - Beds are burning (Thanks Patti for singing this song)

Some birthdays are for singing!
Love the echoing voices.
