Good evening everyone. This short piece was written on my 71st birthday. The cup was given to me by my beautiful friend Rosemary. On the bottom of the cup are two pale blue crossed swords, the Meissen symbol.
Hoping all is well for all. I have really been moved by your comments. The text is relatively obscure so I greatly appreciate your thoughts.
I noticed for the first time this evening how these poems reflect each other. The many mentions of time... 'Time matters', 'the milk of time', 'sacred spoils from the old time', 'Time strangely divided'. There are the girls in purple raincoats in The Herald Flies Over and the girls in raincoats tonight. The alchemical sovereign points to the alchemical cup.
So many wonders to comment on but I'm having some trouble posting a comment so I'll end on this. How miraculous that the alchemist thought himself a failure for producing porcelain instead of gold, when, in the end, he created something far more precious than gold. He created a vessel for Love.
Thanks as always, Patti. Just exquisite.
“she gave me an alchemical cup… perhaps innocent that she had imbued with the unknown quantity that had eluded the maker… the incalculable ingredient of love.” ❤️
