One small contribution to the Crystal Ship is my short story 'Tommy Love and His Jim Morrison Conspiracy Novel'. It imagines Jim Morrison recruited to the Surrealist movement in Paris in 1971 by the ghost of Artaud: https://stevebeard999.substack.com/p/91-tommy-love-and-his-jim-morrison
Wish I was there live seeing you and the rest of the Patti Smith Group back then. I am sure everybody felt they were really aboard the crystal ship. You can really feel it on this recording, a beautiful crystalline gem of a song. Thanks for honoring this true poet, Jim Morrison*~~*
Blessings to our late visionary seer Jim Morrison Crystal Ship an inspired moment...I had the honor of being cast in The Doors tribute film dir. by Oliver Stone in the Haight Ashbury sequence The Fillmore East and West concerts as well as the Fire Dance scenes...truly times to be remembered.....Hello I Love Won't You Tell Me Your Name always a treasure....that this film opened at The Olde Ambassador a treasure....The Crystal Ship a thousand tears a thousand years forevermore.
I got into The Doors when I was 14. I read everything I could about Jim Morrison - how he loved the beats, Rimbaud, Blake. I gravitated towards all of that because of him. It was like my soul’s first kiss.
I love that you start with the rivers. I want to share this with you. It is the final lecture by Alice Oswald as Professor of Poetry at Oxford, she's the first woman to hold the post and an advocate of rivers.
My favorite Morrison song. I also visited his grave the ladt time I was in Paris, along with those of Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, and other notables. I will have this song played at my funeral.
Ah Jim! A poet that didn't walk this earth very long. I really loved him. I remember playing his music when my daughters were young. They listen to his music to this day. Timeless. Thank you, Patti for this rendition of "Crystal Ship". I have never heard it till now. So moving, beautiful. Thank you XO
Yes...he was a poet......and I have seen him in his lyrics and his life. "Riders in the sky", may as well have been "Writers in the Sky"....Thanks for bringing us back to those sinuous, velvety days.

The photo of Jim's grave reminds me of a verse by the poet Rilke.
Marthe's Diary
People seem to gather in this city to live. But I can only think that everyone here is dying.

Before she slipped into unconsciousness the Unconscious whispered to him. That Unconscious is the crystal ship.
Another flashing chance at bliss
Hi Patti.
