I'm finding listening to this so centering, thank you. I hope I'm not late to the game, but may I suggest Neruda's Ode to Broken Things for a future reading.
Having just come across substack, I cannot tell you how elated I feel by your regular presence here, both as writer, but as “speaker/reader! Needless to say, I instantly became a subscriber :)
A lifelong fan who only ever got to see you perform in 2016 in Lisbon, at the Coliseu during your “Horses” tour, I relish every instance, no matter how fleeting, of hearing your delectable timbre, especially when cloaked in the hush of intimacy.
I could launch into ineffable tirades on the warming effect it has on my soul, but their protracted gushiness lie outside the scope of my humble request right now
While I understand I may have missed my opportunity to request a Poem, or a short text for you to read, I will nonetheless try my luck, and suggest that, one day, you might pick up Sylvia Plath’s: poem #74; “Sculptor,” dedicated to Leonard Baskin, and regale us—your proud Patrons—with your chosen rendition of it.
I love you, Patti (but not in that way; I dare never sully that magnanimous heart of Fred’s!) yet, curiously, the text you chose here reminds me of the times you spent with Kimberly in your mock-battles and myriad adventures in and around your mother’s abode in Jersey!
Love, and thank you for being you, and so generously sharing your art, thoughts & heart with us!
I closed my eyes as you read and the gorgeous colored illustration of this poem in my own Child's Garden of Verses popped into my mind, clear as day. After..... 50 years? Wow. Memory. Poetry. Time.
Such a treat! You are so generous. You would make a delightful album of poetry for children, if you read your favorites. This reading transcends time. Thank you , deeply.
Thank you, Patti. Thank you, Helen for suggesting this reading. Thank you, Robert Louis Stevenson.
Thank you for this moment.

Thank you for reading from A Child’s Garden of Verse ❤️ I still have the copy from my childhood that my dear Daddy used to read to me.

Goodnight Patti, that was lovely thank you 🥰
Thank you for this reading by candle light. The poets smile as they sew or paint or put the
children to bed.
What a soothing poem. 😇
