Hello everyone,
Again, thank you for all the well-wishes. Everyday I feel more like myself. Whoever that is. Before I had my medical interruption I had been taking some snapshots of my travels. So I thought to gather a few, for no other reason to show that you were all on my mind. Touring Italy is always unique, as every town seems to harbor a masterpiece, as well as great coffee (save perhaps the hospital coffee) inspiring views and warm, loving people. Today I will return to Matera, which moved me deeply. It contains the unspoiled, seemingly biblical, architecture of its people and is almost exactly as Pasolini found it when he began production of his 1964 film The Gospel According to Saint Matthew. I truly love this film as it depicts Jesus as he should be portrayed- a divine revolutionary. Walking about the empty sector of the city I could well imagine Pasolini in his white shirt, sleeves rolled, dark glasses and tie setting history in motion. I stood with my son Jackson overlooking the landscape, dotted with ancient caves, at the same spot Pasolini once stood. I fell in love with this landscape and silently thanked the director for his energetic and somewhat humble, visionary work.
Thank you so much for sharing this These images are wonderfully profound and moving.
Thank you Patti, I stepped back into Pasolini's gospel. I took off my shoes.
