It's a wonderful document. As you have probably noticed, the images are opposite left to right and the cover of the book is in mirror letters. Not a big deal, but I felt a little uncomfortable when looking at the pictures.
On the train back to CT after see your beautiful magical Woolgathering performance. Have always loved that precious book and even more having seen it glow and flow into life with voice and movement on stage.
Also received my Before + After Easter copy yesterday. Your creative output - over the decades through this moment - is an inspiration. Human commercials totally justified! And your greetings are a lovely and welcome and generous gift of time and sharing. You are full of wonderful stories! Thank you for being here with us. (You did look a bit like Anna Magnani in that photo.)
Keep it coming and congrats on your book progress! ;D
Hello Patti. What a lovely post l can’t believe it’s 50 years since Horses and 15 since Just Kids. I love both so much and they were and are a big part of my life. Loved those photos of you, so pretty with your floral garland. And yes Picasso was wonderful, l never tire of looking at his work. So looking forward to your book and well done. Lots of love from London 🙏
Thanks for sharing as always, Patti. All the books look great and I'll be looking forward to your new book--I appreciate your effort to hew as closely to the truth as possible; by no means an easy task, I expect. Your elation is visible, as well; it must be a relief and a joyful one at that to have crossed the threshold of completing a work long in the making.
I truly hope Patti Smith gets a modicum of the love, sharing, insight and peace back that she provides to those of us fortunate enough to land in this digital space. My life has been greatly enhanced by falling in love with her work/output and experience.
When you apologized for saying “basically” too often, I just burst out laughing! Reminds me of myself... and so many of us... continuous self- monitoring. Guess it’s called being humans!
I have been away and so missed you a d your videos, so I stopped in my travels into A Room of One’s Own Bookstore in Madison and caught up on the days I had missed in the new color version of Book of Days.
Simply, I feel such pleasure in sitting with you in your videos, Patti. Whatever you talk about is the Elmer’s Glue of pasting together thoughts. Snippets of stories. Music. Love. With whomever shows up. We’ve lost so much of that. Yet it’s what is importance in us being human. Thank you.
Hi Patti, Thanks for this perfectly meandering "hello" .
Nevermind….
Can we be friends please 🙏
Simply authentic and beautifully real. I loved your impromptu personal share. Thank you Patti.

Re Horses album, I remember listening to the music and looking at the cover and asking,
‘Is that a boy or a girl?’
‘what do you think?’ was the reply.
‘well its dressed like a boy but looks too pretty, more like a girl’
‘what about the music?,
‘well that’s a girl’s voice, but the singer isn’t always on the cover’,
‘and what about the name?’,
‘Patti could be a boy or a girl’
I guess I was about 7ish and totally obsessed with horses.
