This poem was written before her death and is overwhelming in its sheer determination. She seems to have become a superwoman, to have faith in God and to go on with only her own words. I admire her very bold courage, but I wish she had recovered from TB and lived a long life.

Amazing poem from such a young woman and how I loved Heathcliff and Cathy and Wuthering Heights as a young girl. And still do

❤️I listened to you read her poem so beautifully. I read and re-read the poem. That one so young could be contemplating death with such earnest hope and certain faith. Never does she waver in her hope. And here I sit — an old sick woman who has no right to complain. I know of all my failures and now the results in the form of sickness. So I read her words with all the emotion of hope I have and It blows me away. And I am energized by her strength, her wisdom, her sweetness. Thank you Patti. Again you have brought us closer to the heart of the poet.

I saw your post last night, I was excited that you selected one of her poems to read, but I wanted to wait until morning to listen/read. I do not have a copy of her poetry, and now I must amend that - what a beautiful poem. A good start to my day! Wuthering Heights is one of the cornerstone books that led me to be a writer, I have a copy with the Fritz Eichenberg illustrations that I love to read. I'm going into my garden to catch up on my weeding, and possibly mow the garden paths if it doesn't rain again (it might, there is a slight chance.) We've had so much rain, it's absolutely soggy out there, at least the weeds are easy to pull! My wee donkey, tinier goat, and my feral kitty-girl have filed a formal complaint about the weather, I don't know if Mother Nature heard them, we'll see!
