Celebrating the 100th birthday of Maria Callas
Callas singing Vissi d’Arte always undoes me.
Thanks so much for the view of Naples and the gulls and your beautiful words and the unbelievable video of Maria. I hadn't seen that before and it absolutely floored me, giving chills where there had been no chills before. You're such a gift in these trying times.
thank you for this and for the references to Maria Callas... whatever the technical accomplishment or not.! ..her voice certainly transport us to somewhere 'else' hard to define I think...
Reading this as I’m watching the Stanley tucci series on Italia! Thank u !
That voice is perfection to me. Sad that
anyone would think otherwise. Thank you for sharing.
I love Naples! And have also stayed in that hotel. :-)
Try to make it to Pompei if you haven't been there- and the trip up to the top of Vesuvius is incredible- but go with a trusted driver. Can be tricky. Thank you for your travelogue- beautiful!
I'm so pleased that you love Naples, Patti - you can hear the joy in your voice! I've only been once, but it had an immense impact on my entire being. I had the best meal of my life (thus far) right along the water, a simple dish of spaghetti and clams, spaghetti alle vongole, a centuries old recipe that held history in every single morsel.
Beautiful place where you are staying !!!
Maria Callas’s voice is just beautiful
I will continue to listen today when I decorate the Christmas tree . Thank you Patti !
Oh, thank you for the gorgeous sights and musical narrative.
Sooo so beautiful, I can almost feel like I'm there with you
How beautiful! Thanks for sharing your lovely view! Take care, Patti.
I felt like I got to go to Italy... much gratitude for your sharing with those of us still in lockdown in 2023.
Thank you Patti for sharing the beautiful view from your hotel and for the stunning video of Maria Callas singing.
The way you write of your appreciation for Maria Callas very touching and poignant
My dad loved Maria Callas -- the memories of the turntable scratches on a well-worn album and the guttural pain I imagined when she was forsaken by Onassis--all contributed to her ethereal magic.
The light is so beautiful in your video from Naples! Thank you! Starting the day with this today :-)
Maria Callas is my favourite opera singer. Just the best.
