Happy mothers day, Patti. That’s great you went to Metrograph. I was there too. I went to see All About My Mother. A great tribute to mothers and women and film. By Pedro Almodovar. I had never seen it projected in film on the big screen. Such a great experience!
Hi Patti and all her subscribers ... Just a note to see if you guys can let Patti know that when she's showing us all these beautiful books, that they are reversed mirror images. In the newspaper biz we used to call them flopped. I've heard there is a button Patti can push to change the settings so the books can be read by us. Thank you everyone! I love Patti and I love you all!
Happy mothers day here in uk ours is in March of course, sounds like a loverly day would love to see the Sakamoto film another musical hero of mine, bless you & Cairo 🤗🌸💜
Happy Mother's Day, Patti! This is the first Mother's Day without my mom. She passed last August. I know she is with us and that gives me joy. My girls talk about her all the time, make the desserts she loved, and keep her memory alive.
I went to visit a favorite garden of mine, Innisfree in Millbrook NY. Very peaceful. XOXO
Happy belated Mothers Day to you Patti! I was describing your wonderful late night messages to a friend the other day. I used the word ‘motherly’ for that’s often how they feel to me. I’m a wee bit younger than you and when I first heard you singing Horses on a bootleg tape someone brought back to Oregon from an early concert in the east in the mid 70s, it was the last word I would have used to describe you. But now 50 something years later your sweet, caring late night messages have such a nurturing motherlng quality, I am always touched. For those of us whose mothers are no longer with us it’s such a lovely thing.Thank you.
Rest in peace, Ryuichi Sakamoto. I am so glad you mentioned him in this post. His music showered me with such joy over the years. "War and Peace" must be my #1 favorite song. He was an amazing human, as the film Coda documents.
Enjoy the scent of Mother’s Day throughout this Mother’s Day week. I am sure your flowers from Jessie have a wonderful perfume that spark more inspiration into your life. Thank you for your Motherly wisdom that you give us on Substack and beyond. You rock*~~*
It's a different date in the UK, but celebrate twice is nice, happy mothers day to all people who have taken on the role of mothering on life. We are having this strange swap, celebrating father's mothers on mothers day and mother's fathers on fathers day. Aka flowers to fathers on mothersday, flowers to mothers on fathersday. It's a sign of the way things are a changing ❤️
A happy day to everyone on Mothers' day..

Every year I think of David Peel singing Happy Mother's Day. Still makes me smile.
