I’m so glad to hear you say that you hope the lava stone is happy having been taken from its place. I think those things all the time too, even if a fly gets caught inside my car and I let it out further along the road. My little grandchildren are absorbed by a gemstone book I brought them last week. We sat and pored over it for ages and they went away and studied it more. One granddaughter had a little collection of stones she bought in the museum shop and we spent a long time matching them to the pictures and talking about them. I like when things align, like the row of planets on your stone. Everything links up constantly which is a joy. I always love the easy train of thought in your messages.
I appreciate the starts and stops, the pauses and moments of reflection. The Coral Sea, the Smithposium on Rimbaud, or did I miss the ending of those threads? Is there really ever an ending? Isn't life mostly a series of threads, stories, adventures begun, paused and continued somewhere and sometime? Perhaps we place too much value in nice tiding endings.
Long ago my brother and I had a small quarry in the old barn. We would smash rocks apart and harvest the mica from inside them. Somehow it seemed worthwhile.
Dear Patti, Just got home from Italy. I was thinking of you as I walked through the Venice Bienalle. Have you ever been? It is my second time and this one entitled "Foreigners Everywhere" was really great.
So good to see you and so happy that you had a chance to visit with your sister. I live in NJ too and we do have some really great nurseries to buy herbs, flowers etc. Always good to go to ShopRite.
I collect rocks too from my travels and I also wonder if they are happy in my home. I hope they are. I think your rocks are happy too. Much love.. XO. :).
Hermann Hesse is a fantastic writer! I have just read The Steppenwolf and I found it marvelous. A visionary book. Between fantasy and social reality !!!! I think you have talk or write about this book ? I love Narcisse and Goldmund. Thank you to share your readings. Because you love art I invite you to read Blue Bacon (Bleu Bacon) by a young French author Yannick Haenel, he spent one night in the Museum of modern art in Beaubourg and speaks about this experience. Maybe it is not translated yet because it is anew publication.
Patti, I am happy you chose to post rather than discard this video.
Your voice soothes.
I like your Guadalajara lava predicting for thousands of years the alignment of the five planets.
When I was thirteen, my parents brought my little sister Lea and me on their annual winter trip to Mexico. We stayed several days in Guadalajara, where I began to develop my sensory memory of Mexico, the smells (including a faint whiff of diesel), sounds, feel of the air. Once in while, I experience a similar sensation and it brings me back to Mexico, leaving me happy and longing.
Hi Patti. I love to hear your ramblings and it sounded like you had a lovely time with your sister. Their garden looks and sounds fantastic, l especially love home grown herbs great for cooking with.
I haven’t read Glass Bead Game since I was a teenager maybe time to read again. Much love from London 🙏
Hi Patti. Glad you feel able to visit to talk about nothing in particular. You should not worry about how your rock feels. It was after all received as a gift. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc2fDDuot2c as Dory Previn explains.
good to gently swing with the pendulum...always learning something...
I love the lava rock & feel certain you were meant to have it. I believe it’s happy where it is.

I think of rocks as slow moving life forms. Your piece of lava is beautiful.

Thanks for the visit, Patti.
With love from San Antonio.
Thank you ❤️
I could listen to you “talk about nothing” forever.
I love that you consider the happiness of your lava rock.
Remember the “Pet Rock” from the seventies?
Someday I hope to “enter the field’ of The Glass Bead Game too.
Always appreciate the book recommendations.
Love the ‘Glass Bead Game’ 🤗💙📖

Always nice to see you. Part of your life is performative, and I guess this is to, but it’s a privilege to share time with no expectations.
