I really hope you will be doing another show at Pappy and Harriet’s this year. If you do, then it will be our 4th time seeing you. And we love listening to you!
This is a bit out of context thus I apologize if I’m bending any boundaries.
But I just received a poster for the upcoming gratitude affair in your honor. But there was little reference on where to obtain tickets. Kinda weird I have to ask you.
Nonetheless, I have found , I think you’re exploring some of your own personal experiences rich and downright honest. I wonder if this comes with a certain attitude as we age? Anyway, I still enjoy your tiny chapbooks that I’ve shared with much younger folks . And still pickup from time to time when I need a dose of history and faith .
Thank you and as Joan Baez once sang “Gracias all vida” ( spelling).!
It's nice that you can chat like this. I'm sitting sleepless and trying to write and not become despairing because of what seems like an onslaught of a dictatorship. Connecting on different levels is helpful, and at the same time, I know we need to do something constructive and substantial, at least for me, starting on the personal level of inching toward more awareness.
Watching Joan Baez's documentary "I Am a Noise" filled my insides and much of my day, and I thank you again for your role.
The other day when I listened to Joan with Krista Tippet, she spoke of never having had a lesson in writing or in painting. That gave me cheer since my book on vulnerability will be published by a small company (it has the word dignity in it, so that is good), and I bring my own years of doing therapy and being in it for even longer, and still. I have never had a writing lesson, but this book poured out.
Sorry that I'm talking to you as if I know you. Maybe that's the point. Thank you for sharing your Paris.
What a delight. I just joined Substack. Don't even know of that's the terminology. Joined? Finding this made me comfortable. Fan of yours for decades. Thanks. For everything. And yes, I saw the thumbs.
Patti Smith did you and Lynne ever hunt werewolves in the bright full moonlight with the Rod and Gun Club on the mountaintop above the Goldsmith place?
Patti, I am a new fan. I am discovering you backwards. I’m a gay woman, 69 years old, retired psychologist/professor in Arizona. A few weeks ago, I came across a YouTube video of a song titled “The People Have the Power” and I thought, that sounds like my kind of song. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve played it (with Choir Choir Choir). I vaguely knew that Patti Smith was a rock singer from the eighties. I was enthralled. I posted that video on my Facebook page saying, “Where have I been? I just now discovered Patti Smith!” Lots of teasing since then. I’m halfway through Just Kids and can’t put it down. Your story. Your writing. Amazing. Anyway, I’m not sure what address to use to send a more personal writen note, so I’m glad I’ve at least found this avenue. I’m so grateful you are on the planet and so grateful our paths have finally crossed. Sending you much love and blessings from Green Valley, Arizona.
Yes I saw two blurbs with thumbs up cartoon. It's better than seeing the smirffs.!!!! Remember so annoying and they would say have a smurffy day hope you don't they are so annoying !!! That's.
OMG, OMG! A new book is coming out! I’m over here doing my happy dance! I’ve been wishing for this, and it’s finally happening! Patti, I absolutely adore your writing—it’s pure art, the way you craft language. Chapeau!
