Thank you for the poem! Perfect for the solstice. I love both the winter and summer solstices. They re so important to our world and our very lives. Emily was THE genius of the Brontes as far as I’m concerned. Every time I read WUTHERING HEIGHTS I am so blown away that I swear, I feel like I can’t breathe for awhile. I’m just catching up to your messages from this week.
Happy winter solstice! I recently read that the early demise of the Brontes could have been attributed by grave water that was, unknowingly, consumed by the town. The theory is that it made them weak and more susceptible to disease.
Thank you for reading Emily’s poem as a local lass I know the countryside very well & Wuthering Heights is my favourite Bronte work. Today I attended, by Zoom, an old friends funeral so it has been a contemplative one for me thinking of all my friends I’ve lost since we were all together in the 1970’s, strangely a card arrived just after the funeral from another one of those dear friends who now lives in California, an American who spent the 70’s here in the UK, and I realised he was now the last of my male friends still alive from that time & place. Thank you for this ending to a long & thoughtful day for me, & thank you for all your posts dear Patti. 😔💜🖤

It is summer, with sunshine forecast for Christmas Day, in Aotearoa, New Zealand. I'm swimming in the outdoor pool, and to lie on my back in the water looking up at the vast blue sky, white clouds and flying birds is my happy place. Have a great birthday!
