Thanks Patti for contemplations. Our Independence Day was celebrated in Dolores Park SF with our San Francisco Mime Troupe opening their Summer 2023 with Breakdown. We had our Green Party booth signing up new voters and honoring Professor Cornel West from Harvard Theology School as Presidential Candidate.
I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day, Patti! It's so nice to see you and Cairo. And yes, we are so incredibly fortunate to have our freedom. Looking forward to continuing with the Smithposium.
Welcome home Patti! Growing up in Canada on the mighty St Lawrence river we always enjoyed the 4th of July firework celebrations just a mile across the water in upstate New York. We celebrate Canada day on July 1st, so it always made for a great weekend of fireworks on both sides of the river.
Welcome home! Even after the greatest trips, getting home is always special. The Ahhh moment, the familiarity, the coziness. The belonging. I hope everyone can have those moments. btw, Svalbard. It’s not beyond my imagination to think we may read in your work scenes inspired by such a unique environment. It’s now on my life list of places to visit. All Best Wishes!
Dear Patti, wise words - how lucky we are - to celebrate the Independence day ? And its a good moment to contemplate why we, the human race in some lucky countries, take it for granted? That luck can change within a fraction of a blink
How lovely to see you and your other half - Cairo looks so happy in your embrace XO
It’s 5:30am and I’ve been unable to sleep all night so excited am I about your discussion on the imagination. I have exhausted myself alternating among reading Rimbaud and thinking, looking outside at the waning Buck Moon, looking at a photograph I took yesterday after a morning rain of a child’s little plastic shoe on the ground with sparkles and a butterfly. The shoe is almost completely worn out on the inside but some butterflies remain on what must have been the lining. Beneath and beside the shoe are what appear to be autumn leaves. But it’s July: I don’t know where those leaves came from. It’s a mystery!
I have to go to sleep for a little while. I just wanted to say that I can’t wait for your discussion of the imagination and if I don’t reply right away it’s not owing to indifference but exhaustion in anticipation.
Karen, I’m thrilled to hear it! How well I know the joy of being outside when one has been confined. I’ve known it all my life, had many stretches of being in bed as a child, and when I would get to go outside it was to the trees I ran, and under them, especially a beloved weeping willow by the creek down the hill from my house.
So I really know how you must have felt -- joy to the pores -- in the sun, with a breeze, and under that extraordinary New Mexico sky. I’m so happy for your getting to be outside!
There are troubles in most countries today. We are all here together. Patti brings us messages of hope and a higher vision. We’re so lucky to have regular contact with her and each other here. 🩷
Yes, we live in a troubled world, simply. Let's just keep our hopes up for better days...
Patti loves Paris and France in general. (and the French love Patti!) so I can imagine that she was disheartened to see such unrest in that (normally) beautiful city. I hope she can come back to Paris (or Lyon!) soon and see ' la douce France' again.
Much love to you and Cairo Patti
Good to see you home. Cairo seems very happy!’💜

So lovely to see you and Cairo again so restful. It’s always lovely to get home after travelling and it looks like you had a great time.
A little late from London but Happy Independence Day to you 🙏
All the best to you from Vienna! Cairo looks really happy and so am I.
Congratulations!
The ideal in the Declaration of Independence that all peoples are equally endowed is also an ideal of mankind
Hey Cairo!!! You must have missed your mom.
Welcome home, Patti. Get some rest. Looking forward to "The Drunken Boat"! XO

Yay, Cairo! I never get tired of seeing her sweet little face. (Nor yours, Patti!)
Happy Independence Day! To you and sweet Cairo, your other half ...

Hope you get some rest, Robin. Yes, today's presentation promises to be fascinating.
That child's shoe with the Autumn leaves sounds to me like the set-up to a New Yorker short story. I can almost see the opening paragraph.
It does sound like you got out and about for a while. That's good news.
See you when the school bell rings.
(Smiling) Thank you, Jim. I’m awake now and in my seat!
It was brief, but restful; thank you, Karen! Hoping all is well with you.
I’m sorry you had a few bad days, Karen and hope that you can get out for a little while today. Sending warmth and positive energy, as ever.

Glad you're back home, Patti. Sorry you had to see Paris in the state it is these days. France is a troubled country.
