I'm just catching up on the 'sisters' post. I have a sister and we live in different parts of the uk, but stay in touch weekly, just whatsapp message or whatever.. we don't necessarily say much but we do seem to get what each of us is thinking!!!

That's such a lovely post! Thank you! I'm very lucky to have my big sister Karin - (so for me she's obviously very much "die beste Schwester der Welt" (best sister in the world)! We are quite close even though we live far apart now in different countries. We've been reading the book of days together in German in January and February every morning - it was my gift for the new year - so good to start the day with a beautiful image and thoughts.

This one I've caught late now... just catching up again. Happy very belated birthday to your sister! I'll have to add Little Women to my list of books to read!

Happy Birthday Linda.

I was never fortunate enough to have a sister, but I have a girl cousin who is 3 years and 6 days older than me. We grew up together and I have been blessed by her love and companionship. Thank you cousin Barbara for being in my life. My sister in so many ways. ❤️

I have two wonderful older sisters. We are all very different from each other-yet when together we have so much in common. They are kind and always there for me. I am so thankful to have them both in my life. I love them with all my heart. Happy 75th to your sister!!

Patti, thank you so much, I treasure the Book of Days, it's on my night table close by. The picture of you and Linda has stirred my deepest joy and gratitude for my relationship with my sister, 2 years younger than me. I have a picture from around 1957 or so, taken in front of our row house in Mt Airy, Pa. It was in the snow and we were both dressed in the same wool coats, with our brunette hair, bangs cut short. We looked so much like you both!

Happy birthday to Linda!

I don’t have a sister but I, too, grew up with a blue bike and a copy of “Little Women.” Much later in life, I made a pilgrimage to Louisa’s grave in Concord. Her father’s grave is there, too—Bronson. When Louisa was young, he moved the family to a farm called Fruitlands and made an ethical decision that they would use no animal products or animal labor. Not even candles with tallow. Imagine trying to do women’s work— sewing and such— with no candles at night! I think Louisa and the older women rebelled until they either went home or he died. Can’t remember. Anyway, it was a great social experiment— with Emerson and Hawthorne and Thoreau hanging around— but it was out of its place and time. So I went there, too, to Fruitlands. Beautiful countryside! And I thought of young Louisa inventing Jo in her young mind under such circumstances. Then, back in Concord, I put flowers on her grave—-and his, too.

I loved reading all of these comments. Happy belated birthday to Linda, to Yoko, to all the sisters, those we were given at birth and those we forged through love and life. No sister is ever wholly lost to us, even those we have not yet found.

With warmth to all,

Robin

I do not have a sister by birth... but through love and association, I have a sister through my partner of 37 years. She has been generous enough to share her. I love her as though she were my blood and can't express how grateful I am she's in my life. 💕

What a beautiful piece of writing, Patti I would like to read it all. I have two sisters, one that is three and a half years younger, and one that is almost twelve years younger, (We also have a brother who is twenty months younger than I am). Anyway, I love them dearly, but don't get to see them very often as one lives in London, and the other in Vancouver. I do miss not having them around when I need to buy a dress.

On a different topic, Patti, I would like to say how much I love your album, 'Gung Ho', particularly the title track. I find it very moving and is a true work of art by you and your band and not, just a song. Thankyou.
