I so liked "Psalm 23 Revisited" that I revisited your reading of it several times. I love the way it opens: "The word is his shepherd." Anybody who writes poetry must be taken by that. We might often think of the poet as shepherding words, but your reversal of that is stunning. I also like "tender grace" and the advice to "walk in the sun." What a graceful, fresh poem! Thanks, Patti.
What a beautiful, loving poem. Can you suggest a few poem titles of his you especially like? I’ve read his cut poems, but nothing beyond those. I watched your concert twice through, it lifted me. Not a lot of human contact in this difficult time. Thank you, Patti Smith, for letting us in.
I met Corso in City Lights Books long ago when I was a student. Recently, I unexpectedly came upon his grave in the Protestant cemetery in Rome. I should have known he would be there—near Shelley. Thank you for reminding me of these memories and happy birthday, William Burroughs!
“Naked Lunch” comes to mind. I read “Junky”, (most of the time, waiting…) , I like him.
This was not a good man. Manipulative sadist comes to mind.
Burrough's was a god!
