Thank you Patti. I love the winter, its my favorite season, then Fall, Spring and Summer. I think I have reverse S.A.D. where I'm so happy in the cold and so sad in the heat! Thank you Wallace Stevens for your words and hearing the land speak and then speak to us.
Wonderful selection, not only of the aesthetic, visual appreciation of winter, but a beautiful homage to the peacefully ceaseless, irrevocable cycles of life; of which the death of things and people and moments, and letting go are but a natural part which, due to the sweet “malady” of human egoic attachment, have become so difficult for all of us to manage.
I am wondering, and I have a question for you, despite Stevens, who was American, and a modernist poet: have you listened yet to Marianne Faithfull and Warren Ellis’s “She Walks in Beauty,” which takes the works of some of the great British Romantics and sets it to wondrous sound?
If so, or if not…if and when you do get around to listening, I would be interested to know of your reaction :)
You permeate my soul with the same love of life & liberty & beauty & art which your greatest “influences” always espoused!
Patti, you truly are a lovely, lovely human being. So full of life. You've been gifted with great talents and you've courageously chosen a life path for many years -- to express and share those talents. I've been fortunate to have some success in the songwriting world as well. You've given me confidence to create a substack page -- at jimmydunne.substack.com. Thanks for being so inspiring. So real. Patti, authentically you is your true and courageous gift to the world.
