Dear Patti, I saw your substack concert yesterday evening and I was so amazed by your voice. It sounded so strong. Also it´s cute to see that you´re still a bit nervous at the beginning of such events. Thank you for the wonderful ´We Three´ I always have some tears poppin´ up listening to that song. I had a ticket for your concert at Albert Hall and missed it (got the wrong date!!!) - you can imagine how gutted I was, so this made me feel better to see you here, tonight, doing it. Brilliant, and to your 2 man band there! Loved tonights version of Free Money X
Reading from Just Kids - I think I knew those sentences by heart… my Scandinavian neighbors, the Johnson, gave me armfuls of rhubarb when I was a kid - that my mother cooked and I ate — mrs Johnson worked at Horn and Hardart - one of the elves that made the “fresh” food (she sometimes gave me whole pies). Anyway, I felt like you were my family today when you read that passage with the 10-cent gift - remembering once again the joy of the Johnson’s farm and your arm reaching in to get the lettuce and cheese on a soft poppy seed roll! And being in Electric Lady was amazing!! The sound !!!! John Soryk (sp?) built the original sound studio.. I was there the day of the opening party (not the night) but I never heard the sound from the studio while watching the intimate performance! Thank you! So tender and together you three.. the instruments were rich and your voice was perfect. You are like a one person play - expressing the intention of the words! You might be self conscious when you’re not performing but when you read or sing or play you purely are “burning bright!”
The livestream was lovely. The perfect mix of material and the delivery was intimate and powerful. I felt like you all were in my living room and if you're ever passing through Boulder, CO you're more than welcome to hang out and play music in my living room, I'll add some banjo ;)
Patti, thank you for the live event! It was so moving and I loved the combination of the spoken word in between the songs. So happy to see Lenny's book in the right direction! I was dancing barefoot with you all. Thank you much love❤️
I enjoyed the event live. It was wonderful. Also the selection of the songs. Almost 1.5 hours, great. Also the partly very old songs, sung by you again today, now at the age of 75... simply fantastic. It's great to be able to follow a singer and the development of her voice over such a long period of time. Aging has only done your voice good! Please stay healthy and happy everyone. And keep it up, as long as you can and bring joy. Kind regards and thanks to Lenny and Tony.
