I was going to make a little video but Cairo needed my attention. At twenty-one, she is a bit frail these days but did her best to hop up on my lap. So I took a picture instead, happy that she made the effort. Today after thunder, lightning and heavy rains the sun appeared and with it a rainbow. Tonight the two blue rays of remembrance rose in the sky. Now early to dreamland, wishing everyone well.

Ah, Cairo, what a beauty.
My cat Cypher (more I her human) died last year at 23. Her bones as light as a sparrow’s at the end, but her eyes still shone bright with feline fire.
There is no companion like a cat.
Soul deep and eternal.
In the hush of a moment, Cairo called,
Frail with age, yet spirit unbowed.
Twenty-one years, each memory installed,
A gentle leap, her love still loud.
I reached for a lens, but she sought my embrace,
Up onto my lap, where memories trace.
The day roared with thunder, lightning's fierce face,
Yet in its aftermath, nature's grace.
For the sun emerged, casting shadows away,
And with its golden touch, a rainbow did sway.
A promise of hope, in colors' array,
Chasing the storm's lingering gray.
As nightfall draped, two blue rays did rise,
Whispers of the past, under starry skies.
A nod to memories, where love never dies,
Shining bright, like tears in our eyes.
Now, as dreams beckon and the night does tell,
With Cairo beside, in slumber we'll dwell.
Wishing all hearts, a restorative spell,
Goodnight, till morning's hopeful bell.
