Thank you so much for talking about her!! I love those little stories about people in their everyday life, like Susan Sontag loving to dance! I am really guilty of not having read thaaaat many of the German/Austrian/Swiss (well, writers who wrote/write in German is what I need to say..) big writers! Thank you for saying a bit about them :-) :-) :-) I didn't know the Glenn Gould connection with "Der Untergeher" (interestingly the literal translation of the title would be something such as "The person who is sinking/going under" (very badly done by me..). I love Glenn Gould. Extra motivation to read the book!

had so many of these books but when I gave them away I still had not even time to read them, I just wish I had , had more time to go through the many boxes and choose the books I kept. anyhow my reading skills are hopeless, I have a wandering brain, it refuses to stay with the printed word. But I do hold them often. I will go to tube now. thanks for that.

The hand-painted chapter closes with a bow, just for a tiny golden gallery of Van Gogh’s risen angel. Bonsoir.

Thank you, Patti, for the remembrance of the brilliant and courageous Susan Sontag. I’m writing tonight, 1/21/26 after your reading and songs at Symphony Space. I was fortunate to be up front and center. You’re giving us hope, Patti, that we somehow will survive the tragic present moment, however dystopian. We need authentic, honest artists such as yourself to help us transcend the evil and obstacles all around and reminding us to breathe and read and fight and love! Thank you, thank you. Take care.

Thank you for remembering Susan Sontag on her birthday. There's a great retrospective of her work in Munich at Literaturhaus München called

"Everything Matters" which I liked so much I got the accompanying book, in German, and in it, her manuscript pages displayed are readable in English. It always feels more familiar to hear about someone when the person speaking about her, like you, actually knew her. I only met her once at Books & Co., and once dreamt about her. But you really brought her to life again with this video post in the fullest way, in only a few minutes.

Hi Patti

I have been quietly shining in Liverpool UK, not heard anything about any promo or concert for 100yrs of Horses here.

I am but a foal.

I would think of Susan Sontag of having danced her way through life, rather than faught.

I am doing my absolute best to dance my way through life and have no fight with it, since when trained to be a dancer, rules were no fighting in the dance, yet I was also given a Flute, used in the military, I wonder if you still play clarinet?

Thank you

Joanne Xx

Hi Patti. I’m listening to your book, and i love the part about your old friend Stephanie, and the pin. I was so moved listening to that, in your book. I recently went to go see you at the Lincoln Theater, in DC, and i was so touched when you sang “Wing”. My best friend, who bought me a ticket for birthday, (that’s close to yours, Dec 18), nudged me, because i guess i was weeping, but was trying to hold it in-and i just said “I’m fine”. But i was so touched, because it took me back to when i lossed me best buddy, Strazz. In 1997. The song took me back. It was just beautiful. And thank you for the free book! Everyone got a copy of BOA. It was a great night. I’ve signed up to Substack, and i look forward to seeing, and listening to you, and your life. It’s so nice to hear you slowing talking, and what you're saying can be slowly taken in, and thoughtful. It’s nice to take a break from what’s going on. Thank you, for checking in. And everything.
