Hi everyone. I’m in a pickle. Feeling the need to share my pickle. I have two tickets to see Patti at Ladder To The Moon Festival at Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, NM Friday September 9. Bad things keep happening. First, the person who was to go with me - had me buy her a ticket, reneged on her promise. I haven’t been able to find anyone else to come with me. I am blind as a bat night driving so the idea of having to drive home late at night almost two hours back to Taos, terrifies me. To make matters worse… I’ve just been diagnosed with breast cancer and am having to figure out how to negotiate through this collision of unfortunate incidents and timing. It would completely break my heart if I can’t go. I first saw Patti at Max’s or it might have been CBGB’S in 1977. Changed my life. She is (you are) my spirit animal. So my question is a forked estuary of bewilderment. Is anyone going from this part of the world who could take me? Or does anyone have a place I could stay until morning? Barring that - can I interest anyone in a couple of tickets? they are non-refundable. The last thing I need right now is a broken heart, being out $266.. all wrapped up in an awkward dance with mortality. Thank you for listening…. My email is talkingwoman@gmail.com

Patti, thank you for making us a part of your trip. You always have something interesting to share with us. Just the other day I was showing the book I have with your photo of Bolaño's chair to my book club mates; we are reading The Savage Detectives. And meanwhile you were writing on Verdi's desk! Love it! Thank you for the photos and audio. Warmest regards!

Thank you for this lovely piece of work. It was soothing listening to it in the dark as I recover from my latest malady-COVID.

I’m not too familiar with Verdi’s work but I know you have always adored him He was a composer of Opera, is my guess . And you get to sleep In his room!!!! Oh Patti, u r so cool. I love your stories

Gosh! Thank you!!! ….covered the buildings with black crepe!! The hearts of people living along with him melt to tears from his achingly pretty cadences. I was listening to Met Opera Radio today on the way to work - Verdi! With the articulate baritone Thomas Hanson.. I used to think his music was more modern and showy, as a singer back in college. But I feel that what it really is is tenderness in simple terms, steady arpeggios of deep longing resolve to melting humble love.
