Hello from the road
What am I doing, what I am doing?
Below is Beneath the Southern Cross live from St. Mark’s Square on Monday night. Seb Rochford on drums, Tony Shanahan on base and Jackson Smith on guitar.
Yesterday we took a boat taxi across the canal, walked to the airport and got a flight to Zurich then changed planes to Hamberg. A lot of lost luggage but all is well. Tonight I will send a video message after the show. I am also going to send pictures of beautiful Venice. I miss you all as I am tramping from place to place. Sending everyone all good wishes in our very troubled times.
Beneath the Southern Cross
Oh-
To be
Not anyone
Gone
This maze of being
Skin
Oh-
To cry
Not any cry
So mournful that
The dove just laughs
The steadfast gasps
Oh-
To owe
Not anyone
Nothing
To be
Not here
But here
Forsaking all
Equatorial bliss
Who walked through
The callow mist
Dressed in scraps
Who walked
The curve of the world
Whose bone scraped
Whose flesh unfurled
Who grieves not
Anyone gone
To greet lame
The inspired sky
Amazed to stumble
Where gods get lost
Beneath
The southern cross

And there you were in Bath, England, on Sunday night. We drove from London to see you in this great, intimate gig with poetry and music and so glad we did, thank you for that. We'll be in the audience at the Palladium in London in October, but I just knew this would be something smaller and better/different for it. Being able to see your eyes and read those emotions up close makes a difference. I've gotten used to the bigger venues but/so this was a real treat. It means a lot as we journey through life together, in these times. See you in October. We'll wave so you know it's us. (Ha!) Stay healthy and thanks for sharing it all. It feeds us.
God, I needed that today. Thank you Patti, thank you band, thank you person who filmed the clip.
