Thank you, Patti. My chosen saint today is San Juan Diego. Thanks for introducing us to your mini grumpy bread. 🍞 I quickly found old clips of the TV show Bernd das Brot, and it’s delightful!

Thank you Patti! Lovely that you got sent some Bernd gifts! I was away the end of November/beginning of October weekend, in the Netherlands. I had only been there on the way through to Germany once for a 1-2h stop so not able to see much. It was so lovely with all the bikes and the autumn leaves. Absolutely needed the break.

I'm going to my local bookshop before choir tomorrow to get Bread of Angels!

PS: my saint's day is 4th December and in Germany there's a tradition to cute some tree twigs from flowering trees, for example cherry, and leave them in a jar with water on this day and they're then meant to flower around Christmas. They are called "Barbarazweige" (St Barbara's branches/twigs). As a child I loved that custom and we did have a big cherry tree in our garden so it was a tradition every year.

She's the saint of firemen, miners, artillerymen (anyone working with explosives/fire) bell founders and ringers, and the dying (I double checked apparently the list is even longer and also including farmers, prisoners and stone masons). My father picked the name for me because it was his favourite aunt's name (she was the only person he liked to be hugged by when he was a kid).

I will always say β€” out loud, β€œBread of Angels,” when loving help is offered without question from one of means to one of need. You are such a good person.

I cannot believe I did not know about Berndt Brot until today and that he has been around for over 25 years. The amount of joy when you showed us your new brot talisman. And how fitting a bread shaman on the eve of the release of your own special Bread. Thanks for turning me on to all the cool things in this world.
