You were dreaming

of a mountain

only visible

from a certain angle

you were drinking

green tea

and you told me

you were going

to a forest

where trees

were as old as

Sumerian texts

bearing fat figs

that nobody eats

save the sherpas

and their goats

stopping to rest

at the foot of

glistening slopes

This morning

over coffee

I imagine you

tall as a pine

gathering stones
