I've been out of touch for too long now due to unexpected stuff but I wanted to say that the first thing I saw was Death of Angels and it startled me. Of course I knew immediately what it was and my sight is a little weird. Just wanted to mention that. Aside from that, I really love the cover. Love seeing you with your children at the beach by the water.
I have to show this post to my husband. He owned a typography and printing company in AC, NJ, invented several fonts, he worked as an apprentice under some NYC typographer. He notices nuances in fonts that fly over my head. He’s a huge fan of your music & writing.
I too love fonts. I had thousands that no longer work because Adobe took over font management to be a true monopoly. I like Times Roman too. It is tried and true.
And I don't know, but for me, Bread Of Angels is bluish somewhere with a little green punch, but that's probably just because the Wave cover... I think the new cover of this would seem more like some kind of warm color at first, not too strong, brighter, but it doesn't suit the angels. So after all, I would call it some kind of lilac purple.
Since I'm also a fan of fonts and always write, I often think about what a good cover would be like. Every time I go to a bookstore, I always find the covers bad and would replace them all with something prettier. (It's especially good when the illustrator hasn't read the book.)
Now I wanna write a little so I could design a cover for something!
Ah, fonts, I love fonts too! Ah, the Arles job with Soundwalk Collective looked so so good! And chapeau for saying the things that have to be said. I'm having sad days these days when I talk to some relatives in Germany as they can just not see the injustice (media portraying things in certain ways only :( It makes me angry but also sad).
But Correspondences - I'll at least have to try to catch the exhibition!
Ghent is mean to be so beautiful! I just talked about it to someone I randomly met in London staying at a hostel - she said it's her favourite city in Belgium (she was not from Europe) annd just finished her architecture degree there (I'm not used to that anymore but had to because of being short of money these days! it was very hot in the heatwave and they had no towels left. This women was massively kind and let me use her towel so I could actually have a shower!!!) I was meant to go to Ghent years ago but life got in the way. One day I'll manage to go! I've been to Utrecht for a long weekend before and it's very beautiful too.

Patti, I've fallen behind. Liked, then got sidetracked by a few days. As the writer, creator, the choice is yours, of course. French New Wave sounds good and by your choice - is perfect. Belated birthday wishes for Jesse. And as you head off again, I wish you happy trails and safe travels.
It is the 27th as I'm writing this, so Happy Birthday to Jesse! I usually start my morning by checking out "A Book of Days" with my first cup of coffee (after feeding my cats!) and I saw it was her birthday with that great and moving photo of her.
I saw all the comments about the font in your last posting, but I rather like both the font and the photograph for the cover. I have two copies of the hardcover (one is signed), but plan on buying a copy of the softcover because I love that picture and the story behind it.
And Patti, you are one busy person, traveling all over the place, whew! You exhaust me just listening to your itinerary! And with only that tiny suitcase, ha!
I turned 80 last week. Been immersed in your memories during my birthday month. We lived just blocks from the New York Shipbuilding Co. So much resonates. Even the fumes of pig country have come back. I know so much of what you write. Thanks
