Electric Lady Land
Remembering 55 Years ago........
Hello everyone,
This week I am celebrating the fifty-fifth anniversary of my favorite recording studio. Above is a small section of Just Kids remembering my first time in the beloved house that Jimi built. Below is a section of the murals still intact on the walls and halls, followed with a version of Are You Experienced? written by Jimi Hendrix, that we recorded in his studio for the album 12.
Ending here with a live recording of Ghost Dance. We shall live again indeed. Wishing a Happy Anniversary to Electric Lady and a salute to its sheperd Lee Foster.

Electric Lady is more than a studio, it’s a sanctuary of sound, a vessel of memory, and a living archive of artistic rebellion. Fifty-five years on, and its walls still hum with the spirit of Hendrix, the pulse of poetry, and the echo of voices that dared to be different.
Patti, your tribute is not merely nostalgi, it’s devotional. To hear Ghost Dance resurface in this context is to feel the breath of something eternal. That track, like so much of your work, doesn’t just speak, it communes. It reminds us that music is not just heard, but inhabited.
Your rendition of Are You Experienced? recorded within the very house Jimi built, is a full-circle moment, a dialogue between kindred spirits across time. And Just Kids, that tender recollection, remains a beacon for those of us who believe that art is forged in friendship, in hunger, and in the sacred chaos of youth.Electric Lady is a cathedral of creation. And you, Patti, are one of its high priestesses. Thank you for keeping the flame alive, not with grandeur, but with grace.
Happy anniversary to Electric Lady. Long may her walls sing.
Jimi Hendrix, in his few, short years on this planet expanded our vision, our world, to embrace all creative possibilities from the interstellar to the depths of the sea. I often wonder what mind-bending music he would have created had he lived. And, as your passage from Just Kids underlined, how he would have tied it all together in his quest for peace. Happy birthday, Electric Lady. Love the mural. Love your version of Are You Experienced. Love that you got to record and play there live. The spirit of Jimi lives on.
'When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.'
