Patti, my daughter and I travelled to NYC last week. She is an artist, and was visiting galleries, and I joined her later as I’d bought tickets to your Tribute Concert at Carnegie Hall. Not sure how I was lucky enough to get tickets, but I saw a mention on Stereogum the day the box office opened and there were still a few seats left so I snapped them. Being Canadian I thought maybe I shouldn’t travel to the US, and I almost canceled but I have no regrets. The concert was so uplifting and filled me with hope. I still can’t believe we were there. We stayed in Brooklyn and saw some jazz as well. It was a short two night visit in your honour. Looking at all the photos on Instagram it seems like it was a dream. I’m sure you feel a bit like a bride after a big wedding !
I think we are all feeling like the world will eject us in a fast spin. one thing is for sure, it leaves us restless and irritable and like we are Pi**ing in the wind. I too have been trying to clean and get rid of stuff ... somehow I ended up as custodian of two of my friends' belongings as they are leaving the UK... It feels everyone is running.
Dear Patti please don't feel you have to apologise for not posting about the concert - we are all adult and can find our way around you tube. The fact that it was a wonderful occasion is enough.
I'm sat catching up on posts while breastfeeding my newborn son, and I fully support your final words in this message - "I'd like to say I'm sorry for not posting about the concert but, I'm not" we've gotta keep our own cup full to give our best 🙏🏼💙
I've been doing the find-a-place-for-it or someone-to-give-it-to since November after a parent's death, first his stuff, then mine. It's a huge job even in a small home! You've just shown me myself in a mirror.
Thank you for your caring and concerns and I totally understand and feel as you do..We have to take care of ourselves as we do for others and those we Love.. and keep our focus to the Love.. Thank you for your heartfelt words.. ❤️❤️❤️Peace, Love..
i thought you would just vent about your cleaning task, but then in leaving you said the most important things, about how fucked up the world is and about your hope and how we need to help each other and do our best for ourselves and everyone else and how we need to stay connected and NOT despair. this lifted me! i thank you so much for this little piece of your life and your wisdom!
Spring cleaning! So gratifying to see someone as brilliant as yourself admidst the "clutter"..in the same boat....Congrats on Concert at Carnegie Hall-...Its a war on intelligentsia.......

spending a few moments with Patti always engenders a feeling of comfort and warmth, a breath of fresh air...
Even Patti Smith has to occasionally clean up the shit :)
