So many amazing things happening in 5 days! Being at the Louvre at night must have been beautiful, and with such a moon on top too! I've not been to any exhibitions since I came back from Japan and generally have been in a bit of a slump. Lots to think about too. And it's such a weird time too.

I haven't seen Begonia yet and I'm going to try and find a screening somewhere in a cinema still (films that are visually great should always be seen in the cinema!)

It's so beautiful to hear about how the hand of Winged Victory was found.

I wonder if people have advice for how to get out of a big lull / slump of the spirits (not depressed, I've been there before so I know it's not that)....

I did manage go to the cinema recently - there is a beautiful old community cinema on the South outskirts of Liverpool that has not been used for a long time (like so many old cinemas and other beautiful places sadly) but there's a community group that has been trying to build it back up and fundraised for it. Hopefully they are going to make it (if anyone is in the UK/ near Liverpool or even in Liverpool - consider going, they are currently showing films there at the moment, it's called the Woolton Picture House, some classic films (I saw one with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLeine which was perfect for this kind of place! Got a ticket for Labyrinth too but I was in too much of a lull to get myself to go on the day unfortunately)

so I'm reading this post late I guess I missed it the first time around and I realize I've been doing so much research too and it's coming out of my ears to the extend it's almost killing me not to be able to report on what I know. So please forgive my long posts and thank you for indulging me. I'm just bursting at the seams with information. And now you have mentioned Joseph Beuys and Van Gogh. First of all, my late great gallerist in Paris and Los Angeles formally of Berlin was also Joseph's Galleristvand we showed together in Los Angeles - the achingly remembered gottfried tollmann. Gotts put us in a show together called I am Fat. as I do research on all kinds of medicinal foods, I am reminded of Joseph Beuys over and over and over again. many of my paintings sold out of that show and I have no idea who bought them. One includes me in a self portrait of myself in the bathroom, but painted from the angelic perspective like a memory of taking a bath in the style, like maybe Bonnard. And then I'm pretty sure I've made extremely unique discoveries about Vincent van Gogh which I just wrote about on your Virginia Wolff post and I've written about it on Twitter back-and-forth on psychology magazine with an author there and I really would like to talk more about my discoveries, but first I need to figure out if I can survive in this toxic toxic toxic world which is really killing me and I'm living on a knife edge and glad to be alive because first responders to ground zero who are female have not really lived this long and I have more heavy metals in my body than my doctors had ever seen. In fact if they removed the heavy metals from my system and put them all in a syringe and injected it back into me I would be instantly dead. They tell me. So I'm learning a lot, but I'm realizing a lot is being erased as I learn it by this administration. Very happy to learn about no Kings day and all of the success in my home country which I really really miss. So many heartaches. So a little time. xo thanks for this post about your travels. I love it so much.

Dear Patti,

Thank you for sharing this post — it’s always a pleasure to see my city featured here. I noticed you’ll be at Maison de la Poésie soon, and I was really excited to see that. I’ve loved Bread of Angels and have been hoping to attend one of your events in France.

Unfortunately, I won’t be in France that day, which is a bit of a disappointment. If you happen to have other events planned in Paris in the future, I’d be so glad to hear about them!

In any case, thank you again for your work and for sharing these moments with us.

patti..I'm sorry if this is a bit abrupt but I just had to tell you.....I just saw a snippet of you and Robert and the making of "people have the power" and I wanted to relate a tiny time story of a similar trajectory you might like.. I wrote a song when I was about 17....it was about genetic engineering and the jerry springer show. I used to sing it all about the place when I was definitely free...months later...during the G7 at gleneagles my cousin filmed an entire bus singing the song I wrote! I couldn't believe it! I felt like a folk hero for a minute and I only nearly remember the words

I really appreciate this slow calm and reflective way of speaking in a world of fast paced media and communication, thank you for this break from the speed of the internet and the way you allow for time to think and reflect.
