Hello Patti. Today I found out a dear friend passed away. Steve was my late husband's best friend since grade school. He was also a big fan of your music. We connected with your music and R.E.M. We were at the last show R.E.M. played in Boston.
Grief can knock me off balance so I come here to rebalance. You have created a healthy community on the internet. The best I've ever encountered. Sometimes I feel your are speaking to me referencing my comments in a subtle way. Even if it's just my imagination I am lifted and inspired to do my best to live in this uncertain world.
I’ve always loved your art, Patti, from one poet to another! You have always been such an inspiration to me and Just Kids is one of my favorite autobiographies. Absolutely brilliant. Not to be too cheeky, but I have a small online lit mag of sorts and if you would be willing, we’d love to have your work on our site! Cheers!
I love every post you do. Rimbaud, Verlaine, thé Beat writers, your travels, your moments of daily life, reflections! You have the most interesting substack posts I’ve seen. The visuals while you were singing The Blakean song were stunning.
Even your short notes to us make my day. It’s like hearing from a friend!! Cairo adds a lovely touch!
This is a lovely thing to wake up to. Absolutely love the visuals. It reminded me of your Patti Smith Meltdown in London with Songs Of Innocence a special memory for me. Beautiful photo of the two sisters, how happy you look. It’s good to reminisce with loved ones especially in places so familiar and comforting. You will be home now and hopefully had a good journey. I loved this simple message and look forward to the next drift of your voice coming into my ear 🙏

Hi Patti. I simply love your travel account. It's so reflective that soothe my heart. Love it
What a beautiful collage of William Blake’s images with Dante Gabriel Rosetti’s painting in the background! I love it.
