I posted this on my Substack yesterday. A lovely video of you taken by a friend speaking in Hiroshima about coming together and the power of the people. Thank you for inspiring us!
My daughter Mathilde offered me your Substack for Xmas . She loves you so much ( when she was little she wanted a mum like you!). I have been listening to you since I discovered you when I was 15 in France. Now 60 years old and living in England I am still a big fan. I went to see you with my daughter and my partner at St Paul’s- it was magical .
You make me happy and I love your videos, little stories and comments on books .
Merci pour tout Patti et merci d’apporter de la lumière et de la joie dans ma vie 💕
Karen O nailed GLORIA at Carnegie Hall- What a Year of Honor, for you Patti! from the Public - Always seeing you - Strong Capricorn - OH Tom Verlaine- I miss you - Thank you for sharing!♑
Hey, Patti, I saw the short clip from Carnegie Hall. It was wonderful and I hope you will share much more with us about your experience there. I would have loved to be there to stand and clap and beam with joy at your presence - there in that building and here in my life. Blessings from Arizona.
Many thanks for mentioning the book by Sadegh Hedayat. There seem to be three separate translations into English, so I need to consider which one to read. Apparently there is a film by Raul Ruiz based on the book , La Chouette Aveugle, which I may track down.
I’m sure that you get hundreds of book recommendations but I’d like to try my chance anyhow. When I read your writings, I see an inspiring literature pilgrim (you, visiting your favorite artists’ graves and paying respect) and I love to think that “literary pilgrimage” is a genre on its own. As this is not an acclaimed or well developed genre, some texts reveal themselves as unique, indeed. I’d like to share with you a fresh translation (coming out on April 1st) by a female Turkish author, Tezer Özlü. The book was actually written in 1983 in German, won The Marburg Liteturpreis and translated into Turkish by Özlü herself later. It’s been translated into English for the first time now, as far as I know. This is a pure and beautiful example of a literary pilgrimage narrative (tracking the steps of Pavese, Kafka and Svevo) of a female author and a brilliant auto-fiction. You may have a look at the link above.
You’re spreading your sunshine always. Thank you very much. From Istanbul with love.
Thank you for your thoughts and words. They encourage us to think as always.
So do I, dear. Don’t worry about your wardrobe.
