I love when I give myself time to come here. It feels like sitting down and chatting over tea with a good friend. I wanted to share some of my recent findings with you too haha! And yes the little joys in life like an ice cream on a beach... or soft rain. I don't know... it keeps me sane in between the times when I try to fight like hell against the madness/untruths/darkness that is unfolding in front of us these days. I love these calm quiet chats - I can very much relate to you (and also your suspicion of the color pink)
Hello, I’m so happy I found my way to your Substack page. This is totally new tech thing for me and not to sure yet how to navigate it. But I’m enjoying the concept of being able to listen to you tell your tales… you make me smile. Happy weekend🌼
Loved your comment : not only am I here for the people but the people are here for me- a great feeling . Sending love and all the best- great pictures Milan, xx.
I know of the Robert Seethaler book The Cafe With No Name (Das Cafe Ohne Namen) . It’s a book for our times and beautifully addresses in a different context all the references you make about the current world. Seethaler was shortlisted for the 2016 Booker Prize for his book A Whole Life.
Dear Patti, I'm currently reading Her Side Of The Story by Alba de Cespedes. A beautiful fictional memoir/diary/neorealist novel set in the 30s and 40s in Rome, Italy. Definitely written by a woman and can only be fully grasped by other women, I feel. An engrossing read
Dear Patti, Good to see you and I enjoyed hearing about your trip to Milan. Sounds like it was successful. Love that the audience sang while you were coughing a bit. XO
That was such a warm, uplifting and nourishing post. I worked in books for thirty years (l now work evenings in a bakery) and am an H.O.H./deaf Michigan musician, and have seen Milan (MANY years back, such a city at night!) so all stories you told l just ate up. My Radio Ethiopia record and your books are favorite companions of mine. Bless you
❤️

As a fellow advocate of the uplifting qualities of ice cream, I love the image of you treating yourself to a cone :)
